Floor Technician Lead - Port Canaveral

Site: Cape Canaveral , FL

JOB SUMMARY:

Perform lead floor technician and custodial duties at Port Canaveral in an efficient and effective manner.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The list of essential functions below is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this job. Other duties may be assigned based on business needs.

  • Perform, oversee, and provide training for specified floor care and custodial work according to time schedules:
    • removal/disposal of trash, moving of furniture, vacuuming, sweeping, polishing, etc.
    • Sweep, mop, buff, polish, scrub, strip, and refinish hard-surface floors using heavy equipment.
    • Vacuum, spot clean, and extract carpeted floor surfaces.
    • Clean upholstered furniture with equipment as needed.
    • Ensures all baseboards and base moldings are clean and maintained.
  • Oversee the activities of the custodial and floor crew to ensure contract requirements are being adhered to. Identify performance problems and provide initial and on-going training.
  • Create a schedule to assign designated daily tasks to Port Floor Techs each week.
  • Performs routine operational inspection and maintenance of cleaning equipment per manufacturer specifications. Document all findings in approved logs and implement a “tag-in/tag-out” process for equipment.
  • Develop, implement, and assess floor training curriculum for employees.
  • Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training, and hazard assessments and attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.
  • Using personal or company vehicles, transport workers to assigned work areas.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment under established procedures. Leads inventorying floor care products and supplies.
  • Be willing, available, and able to work varied schedules including weekends and holidays.
  • Understand contract requirements and expectations.
  • Provide input about employee evaluations and conduct/training reports.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • None

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior custodial experience.
  • Must be able to pass a background screening for access to the work areas.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must have a current Driver’s License and pass a Motor Vehicle Record background check. Will be required to drive personal or company vehicle during working hours.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior experience in floor care.
  • Prior experience as a lead.
  • Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities.

In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed above, an individual must be able to perform each of the established essential functions in order to perform this job successfully.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to work harmoniously in a team environment with a diverse workforce.
  • Work at a reasonable pace for the job duties assigned and physical ability.
  • Good communication skills (e.g., able to effectively respond to common inquiries or complaints; able to satisfactorily present information in oral or written formats.)
  • Able to follow basic instructions with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Reasoning Ability: Able to identify issues or problems, evaluate and draw valid conclusions. Able to ‘think on your feet.’
  • Attentive to detail for quality performance.
  • Good administrative skills; comfortable performing multiple tasks concurrently; and attentive to detail for quality performance.

TRAVEL:

Travel between the work sites required using company or personal vehicle.

WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE:

Must be eligible to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) badge which requires US Citizenship or non-US Citizen that has the necessary level of work authorization.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Requirements will vary depending on the assigned tasks. This position does require the following: driving, repetitive lifting, push/pull, carrying, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling and prolonged standing. Will involve lifting/moving up to 40 pounds. These requirements can be met with or without reasonable accommodation.

SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Tasks are regularly performed in both climate-controlled areas and areas that have no air conditioning or heat with possible exposure to adverse environmental conditions (e.g., dirt, heat, cold, rain, fumes).
  • Infrequently may involve office work.
  • May involve frequent driving between work areas.
  • Will need to use any personal protective (safety) equipment as designated properly and consistently.
  • Involves exposure to hazardous materials (i.e., cleaning solutions and bio-waste hazards). Required inoculations and training provided by the company.

SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Some tasks require manual dexterity.

Availability:

Full time: Must include flexibility to work weekends and holidays to fulfill contract needs. 8-hour shifts between the hours of 12:30 pm and 11 pm.

Pay: Starting at $17.00/Hour
