Warehouse Supervisor - NAS Pensacola

Site: Pensacola, FL

JOB SUMMARY:

The Warehouse Supervisor for Pensacola NAS Commissary oversees Receiving/Storage/Holding Area (RSHA) operations and related warehouse functions in support of the commissary contract. This position provides formal supervisory leadership, maintains visibility of inbound workload, and ensures product is received, staged, handled, and supported for stocking in a safe, organized, and contract-compliant manner. The role also uses actual truck volume, case counts, product mix, and staffing conditions to assess labor needs, set priorities, and communicate operational adjustments to site leadership.

Operations and Workflow

  • Supervise, schedule, and direct warehouse and RSHA personnel to ensure daily operational requirements are met efficiently, safely, and in accordance with contract expectations.
  • Oversee receiving activities, including timely receipt, breakdown, offload, transport, segregation, staging, storage, and pull support for incoming freight.
  • Maintain and monitor a warehouse case tracker or similar tool to provide visibility into workload, priorities, and completion status.
  • Ensure proper segregation and staging of products during receiving in accordance with commissary and contract requirements.
  • Provide clear daily direction to stockers and material handlers on case priorities and sequencing based on actual delivery volume, product mix, and operational need.

Product Handling and Compliance

  • Enforce stock rotation requirements and ensure all personnel consistently rotate product during receiving, storage, handling, and stocking support activities.
  • Ensure incoming cases are checked for expiration concerns, visible damage, and other quality issues, and coordinate proper disposition of damaged, near dated, or expired product.
  • Maintain working knowledge of RSHA-related contract requirements and ensure daily operations comply with standards for product handling, storage, pallet control, and quality performance.
  • Monitor compliance with commissary and military quality standards and ensure required documentation and reports are accurate and submitted on time.

Labor, Productivity, and Cost Control

  • Review actual truck volume and case counts and use BAC's average productivity expectations, together with judgment about product mix, to estimate labor needs for RSHA work and stocking support.
  • Evaluate whether staffing aligns with the workload received and communicate recommended adjustments, priorities, or reassignments to the APM or PM.
  • Track labor hours, productivity, and operational efficiency to help maintain performance standards and remain within contract budgets.

Leadership, Training, and Safety

  • Provide ongoing training, coaching, and performance oversight to warehouse and RSHA staff to promote consistency, accountability, and operational readiness.
  • Train employees on workload awareness, case volume expectations, average productivity concepts, and the effect of product mix on pace of work.
  • Ensure employees operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment are properly trained and qualified in accordance with safety and contract requirements.
  • Enforce safe work practices, proper use of personal protective equipment, and required reporting for accidents, injuries, property damage, and safety concerns.

Equipment, Organization, and Improvement

  • Maintain warehouse and RSHA organization, cleanliness, and operational readiness, including receiving, staging, storage, and contractor work areas.
  • Identify and report equipment or maintenance issues promptly and follow through on corrective action as needed.
  • Identify operational risks, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies and take or recommend corrective action within the scope of the role.
  • Communicate professionally with BAC leadership, commissary personnel, Government representatives, and shift counterparts regarding deliveries, workload, quality, safety, and operational status.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position has formal supervisory authority over assigned warehouse, RSHA, and designated support personnel, including directing daily work, providing training and coaching, monitoring productivity, and participating in employment-related recommendations in coordination with BAC management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Minimum two (2) years of related warehouse, logistics, grocery, commissary, or material-handling experience, including at least one year in a lead or supervisory capacity.
  • Forklift and material handling equipment certification, or ability to obtain certification as required
  • OSHA 10 certification required or ability to successfully complete OSHA 10 training within 90 days of hire at company expense.
  • Ability to pass required background screening and obtain or maintain access to the military installation and commissary work areas.
  • Valid driver's license with a driving record meeting BAC standard if driving duties are assigned.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.

PREFERENCE

  • Experience in commissary, grocery distribution, federal service contract, warehouse, or military support environments.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities.

In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed above, an individual must be able to perform each of the established essential functions in order to perform this job successfully.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to assess workload and staffing needs using actual volume, product mix, and operational conditions.
  • Ability to maintain simple operational tools such as case trackers, logs, or workload records.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work professionally with employees, commissary personnel, Government representatives, and customers.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in a production-oriented environment.

TRAVEL

Local travel may be required occasionally.

WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE (IF APPLICABLE)

Must be authorized to access and work on government installations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Depending on the functional area of assignment, tasks involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work, usually involving lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (up to 40 pounds). Tasks that require moving objects of significant weight require the assistance of another person and/or use of proper techniques and moving equipment. Tasks may involve climbing ladders, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and prolonged standing and walking in warehouse and commissary support areas.

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Working conditions are predominantly at the work sites. Does involve frequent office work. Work at sites may involve driving; and may involve client transport and use of personal vehicle.
  • Work may include exposure to cooler or freezer areas, indoor and outdoor receiving environments, moving equipment, and required use of personal protective equipment.
  • Will need to use any personal protective (safety) equipment as designated proprly and consistently.
  • Satisfactory completion of designated safety training required within first 30 days of placement and annually thereafter.

PRIMARY EQUIPMENTS/TOOLS:

Will handle standard warehouse equipment and may also involve operating an automotive vehicle.

SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Some tasks require manual dexterity, in addition to visual and hearing acuity.

Availability: Full Time

Salary: $ 19.45 per hour
